Founding member of Prima Care who served patients for decades passes away
A doctor who served the Fall River area community for decades has passed away.
88-year-old Dr. Rajaratnam Abraham died Wednesday at St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River.
According to an obituary, Abraham was raised in Sri Lanka (then known as Ceylon). “He attended St. Benedict’s College, after which he earned a degree in Medicine from the University of Ceylon Medical College. Dr. Abraham was a surgeon in Ceylon before immigrating to the United States with his family in 1970.”
“In the mid 1970s, Dr. Abraham established a practice in Internal Medicine in Fall River, Massachusetts. He went on to have a long and distinguished medical career, serving countless patients in the Fall River area for over 40 years. He was a founding member of Prima Care and operated his practice well into his 80s. Dr. Abraham was also a longtime and devout member of the Church of Our Saviour in Somerset.”
Relatives and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 4–7 p.m. at Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, with a Funeral Service and Requiem Eucharist beginning at 2 p.m. at Church of Our Saviour, 2112 County St., Somerset. Guests are kindly asked to proceed directly to the church and arrive no later than 1:45 p.m. Burial will follow at Nathan Slade Cemetery, Somerset.
