Former Fall River teacher being remembered for giving to community
A former teacher is being remembered after passing away over the weekend.
69-year-old Steven Lempke, of Somerset, passed away Saturday at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
Family and friends are recalling Lempke as a friendly and happy man who you could always come and talk to.
Former students who had Lempke as a teacher at Henery Lord remembered him fondly, some considering him a mentor and friend.
In addition to teaching in the Fall River School system, Lempke was a volunteer in the Auxiliary Police Division of the Fall River Police Department, where he reached the rank of Sergeant. He also served in the Navy reserve and was a volunteer in the Fall River Emergency Management Agency. Lempke was employed by Amaral Bus Company when he retired.
Among his loves was theater where he performed in Fall River’s Little Theatre.
Lempke will receive a police escorted funeral procession to the Notre Dame Cemetery, which will leave the Auclair Funeral Home on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. Committal service will take place in the mausoleum chapel at Notre Dame Cemetery.

Met Mr. Lempke when I substituted at Henry Lord, He always treated me with such respect, and I enjoyed his conversations and respected his advice he shared with me.
