Former Fall River students who did not receive a high school diploma may now get a chance to receive one

Did you finish high school in Fall River but did not receive a diploma? That may soon change.

According to a social media post by Fall River Public Schools, graduates of BMC Durfee High School, Robert L. Medeiros Resiliency Preparatory Academy, or Stone Day School between 2003 to 2024 that did not receive a diploma may now have that chance.

A recent change in state policy has eliminated the MCAS as a graduation requirement. While Fall River schools will still use the test to help determine student progress, students who previously earned a certificate instead of a diploma, may now apply for a transcript review.

If, having met all local graduation requirements, you earned a Certificate of Completion (and not a diploma) upon finishing high school, you may now request a review of your transcript to see if you are diploma-eligible.
