With former Fall River mayor Jasiel Correia being released from prison custody on July 11th, a payment plan has been set up to begin paying back what he owes.
On September 21, 2021, Correia appeared for sentencing after being found guilty of three counts of Wire Fraud, four counts of Extortion Conspiracy, and four counts of Extortion. Correia was sentenced to 72 months of custody in the Bureau of Prisons, followed by three years of supervised release. The Court ordered Correia to pay a Special Assessment Fee in the amount of $1,100 which has been paid in full. Restitution in the amount of $310,240 was also imposed, and an outstanding balance remains in the amount of $306,202.44.
A memorandum was filed Tuesday to serve as a notification of the fine/restitution payment schedule agreed upon by the Probation Office. In that filing it revealed that Correia is employed full time by Town House Fall River as a marketing manager. He has agreed to pay $170 a month toward restitution, stating he has limited monies after monthly expenditures.
Periodic reviews of Correia’s financial situation will be made in order to determine whether the schedule shall be changed, according to the filing.
Correia was convicted of defrauding investors through his SnoOwl app in addition to extorting money from marijuana companies.
