Former Fall River mayor Jasiel Correia has filed to have his sentence reduced to time served over what he says was inappropriate conduct from his lawyer.

The 32-year-old claims that his former lawyer, Kevin Reddington, tried to extort $50,000 from him before the trial, that Correia gave him $306,000 to reimburse SnoOwl investors that was never paid to them, and that Reddington agreed to consolidate all of his cases without his consent.

Correia’s mother and wife filed statements in support of his claims.

Reddington strongly disputes Correia’s assertions, according to Tim White of WPRI12.

Correia has been making the rounds as of late. He was initially serving his sentence in Berlin, New Hampshire. He then stayed briefly in Brookyln, New York before locating at the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania late in November. He was then moved to a federal transfer center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in mid-December. At the beginning of the year, he was transferred to Atlanta USP. In January, he was moved to FCI Ashland in Kentucky according to inmate records.

According to the Bureau of Prisons, FCI Ashland is a low security federal correction institution with an adjacent minimum security satellite camp. The facility was ranked one of the 10 cushiest prisons in 2009 by Forbes.

According to an inmate search, Correia has a new release date of 8/30/2026 which was previously set to 10/29/2026.

Correia, who was convicted of defrauding investors through his SnoOwl app in addition to extorting money from marijuana companies, lost his appeal in November of 2022.
