Former city worker/volunteer Ronald Costa to be honored with bridge

Sponsored by Massachusetts State Representative Carole Fiola and Massachusetts State Senator Michael Rodrigues, a bill to designate the Herman Street Bridge in the city of Fall River as the Ronald Costa bridge was passed Thursday February 22 and signed by Governor Charlie Baker.
The bridge, which will cross Route 79, will honor Costa who worked for the City of Fall River for 38 years and served on various boards.
Ronald Costa advanced his way up from time clerk and foreman to Commissioner of the Department of Public Works in those 38 years. He worked as a Senior Aide for 10 years at the Niagara-Maplewood Senior Center and served on the Fall River Water Board in retirement. He also served on the Board of Directors for St. Anthony of Padua Credit Union for 60 years. He was a member of the Don Carlos and Young Nationals Clubs.
