Florida man hits $4 million prize while back in Massachusetts visiting family and he already has some plans for the money
A visit by a new grandfather back to Massachusetts turned out to be a very lucrative move for a Florida man.
According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, James Devine of Estero, FL is the first $4 million prize winner in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “$4,000,000 Platinum Jackpot” instant ticket game.
Devine and his wife were in Massachusetts visiting family after the birth of their fourth grandchild.
He purchased his winning ticket at Nouria located at 2012 Memorial Drive in Chicopee. He chose the cash option on his prize and received a one-time payment of $2,600,000 (before taxes). He plans on using a portion of his winnings to buy a new golf cart to tour their community in Florida.
The store will receive a $40,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
