Five pull nomination papers for Fall River recall election
As of this morning, five people have taken out nomination papers to run in the March 12 mayoral recall election.
Mayor Jasiel Correia, the subject of the recall, has taken out papers, as has Paul Coogan, a current Fall River School Committee member and longtime educator in the city’s public schools.
Former city councilor and School Committee member Kyle Riley, Ronald Gagnon and Luis Cabral, Jr., also took out papers, according to the Fall River Elections Office.
Those prospective candidates have until Jan. 22 to return the nomination papers with at least 300 signatures from registered voters. Interested would-be candidates have until Jan. 17 to request nomination papers.
In a special meeting on Jan. 2, the City Council set the date for the recall election. Correia, in his second term in office, is facing 13 federal counts of wire and tax fraud stemming from allegations that he used investor money for his own personal use instead of developing his SnoOwl app.
