Five motorists arrested for suspected impaired driving including one over three times legal limit
The Rhode Island State Police today reported the arrests of five motorists for suspected impaired driving, with one driver having a B.A.C. over three times the legal limit.
“Drivers need to make smarter decisions and not get behind the wheel after drinking,” said Colonel James M. Manni, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Director of the Department of Public Safety. “Rhode Islanders are facing difficult days and many challenges right now, but it is not an excuse to drive while impaired. Our Traffic Safety Unit and our road Troopers are working hard to keep the roadways safe and will have zero tolerance for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.”
The following motorists were arrested:
At 9:40 PM, Troopers arrested Jessenia Rojas, age 29, of 117 Carleton Street, Providence, Rhode Island for driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/ or drugs (B.A.C. unknown), refusal to submit to a chemical test, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in damage to an attended vehicle. The arrest was a result of Troopers investigating a motor vehicle crash on Route 95 in the City of Providence.
At 1:45 AM, Troopers arrested Yadleen Delgado Alicea, age 28, of 365 Kenyon Avenue, Pawtucket, Rhode Island for driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and or drugs (B.A.C. – .152, .153). The arrest was the result of Troopers investigating a motor vehicle crash on Route 95 North in the City of Pawtucket.
At 2:04 AM, Troopers John Dejesus, age 35, of 58 Perry Street, apartment #1, Central Falls, Rhode Island, for driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and or drugs (B.A.C. – .286, .282). The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 95 South in the City of Providence.
At 2:10 AM, Troopers arrested Keven Salazar, age 28, of 317 Carter Avenue, apartment#1, Pawtucket, Rhode Island, for driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and or Drugs (B.A.C. Unknown) and refusal to submit to a chemical test. The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Westminster Street in the City of Providence.
At 2:22 AM, Troopers arrested Johanny Soriano, age 37, of 224 Saratoga Street, apartment #3, Providence, Rhode Island for driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and or drugs (blood results pending) and operating on a suspended license (3rd or subsequent offense). The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 95 in the City of Providence.
The Rhode Island State Police have increased impaired driving enforcement significantly with the addition of the Traffic Safety Unit, a collaboration with RIDOT/ Office of Highway Safety and funded by a federal grant through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
