First Massachusetts Meadows Original Frozen Custard opens in Bristol County
A franchise has opened their first location in Massachusetts, and it is right in Bristol County.
The Meadows Original Frozen Custard opened Monday at 3 Park Street in Rehoboth.
According to the company website, “The Meadows Original Frozen Custard got its start in the summer of 1950 when J.V., Richard and Delbert Meadows opened a small custard stand in Duncansville, PA. Lines over fifty people deep formed immediately. It was an instant success and remains a great success to this day. Now considered a tourist attraction, the Duncansville location is still in operation and owned by Dick, Jay and Joel Meadows, sons of Delbert. Demand for the smooth, frozen treat has caused franchises to pop up, each individually owned and operated. Over fifty years later each Meadows location still serves the same recipe that got its start in 1950 and has kept our business successful for over fifty years.”
Frozen custard is similar to ice cream as it is made from milk, cream, and sugar, but it also contains egg yolks.
The Rehoboth location has vanilla and chocolate custard made fresh every day and two other flavors of the day that vary. They also offer 8 flavors of Italian ice.
Hours of operation are noon to 9:00 p.m. 7 days a week.
The franchise is approaching 30 locations with most of them in Pennsylvania.
