First grand prize claimed in new $1,000,000 Massachusetts State Lottery game; here is how he plans to spend it

We have seen a common theme recently among big State Lottery winners in Massachusetts concerning how the lucky are spending their winnings.

According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Alan Levreault of Athol is the first $1 million grand prize winner in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s new “$1,000,000 Go for the Green” $5 instant ticket game that went on sale Tuesday, January 6th.

Levreault chose the cash option on his prize and received a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes). He said he plans on investing the winnings which several recent winners have stated the same. Levreault bought the ticket on his work break and stayed and finished his shift.

He purchased his winning ticket at Weatherheads Convenience Store, 63 French King Hwy. in Erving. The store receives a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.

The “$1,000,000 Go for the Green” instant ticket includes four more instant grand prizes of $1 million.
