For those who have been asking for a new Farmer’s Market in Fall River, this will be right up your alley.

According to Coordinator-Mass in Motion-Fall River Julianne Kelly, a new Farmers’ Market that accepts SNAP (EBT cards) and HIP (Health Incentive Program) started on Wednesday, July 10 and will continue for the following 8 Wednesdays at HealthFirst Community Health Center on Quarry Street. The Farmers’ Market will run from 2:00 to 6:00 PM each Wednesday. The Market is sponsored by SEMAP (Southeastern MA Agricultural Partnership) HealthFirst, and Partners for a Healthier Community.

The Healthy Incentive Program (HIP) allows SNAP (EBT card holders) recipients to pay for produce at approved Farmers Markets and Farm Stands and have the dollars spent replaced immediately into the SNAP/EBT card- dollar for dollar up to a specified limit. People who think they might qualify for SNAP or have questions about qualifications or the application process, should call Catholic Social Services at 508-674-4681, Citizens for Citizens 508- 679- 0041 or the Fall River Office of the Department of Transitional Assistance. Eligibility is income based, but home ownership is allowed, and medical costs including prescriptions, some travel, and other expenses can be deducted from your income resulting in eligibility.

For more information call 508-524-2601 or contact kschwalbe@semaponline.org
