Family pet lost, residence destroyed, after evening blaze on Cape Cod
A home on Cape Cod was destroyed by fire over the weekend official say.
According to Fire/Rescue, at just before 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, the Falmouth Fire Rescue Department responded to a report of a possible structure fire.
First-arriving units found a single-family residential structure on the 700 block of North Falmouth Highway set back approximately 200 feet, with an estimated 75% of the structure involved in fire, and immediately began fire attack, with additional units arriving on scene to assist.
Due to the home’s setback from the roadway and the extent of fire involvement, defensive operations were implemented. The fire was brought under control at approximately 7:45 p.m.
The occupants were not home at the time of the fire. There were no reported injuries; however, a family pet was lost in the incident.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
