Family members say 15-year-old girl killed in Central Falls shooting was on her way to school; online fundraiser created
Police have made an arrest and family members release more information after a teen was shot and killed Thursday in Rhode Island.
Police and fire personnel responded to 22 Earle Street in Central Falls at just before 9:00 a.m. for a report of an unconscious female.
Police confirmed that the 15-year-old sustained a gunshot wound and was at Hasbro Children’s Hospital in critical condition before succumbing to those injuries.
18-year-old Moises Maldonado of Central Falls was arrested and arraigned in Providence District Court on Manslaughter and firearm related charges.
According to family members and a GoFundMe, while on her way to school, the victim decided to visit a friend’s house and, tragically, lost her life after being fatally shot.
Family members did not release her name, however, they did mention that she was 15 and not the previously reported 14.
Services have yet to be announced.
