A local family is hoping to bring awareness through their grief.

27-year-old Eaglefeather Spears of Cranston passed away this week.

According to family and a GoFundMe fundraiser, “Spears was truly one of a kind, goofy, vibrant and always smiling. He was a genuine and pure soul who brought joy to everyone he came across. His presence lit up every room, and he touched many lives with his kindness and warmth.”

Family members are working to cover the costs of his funeral, as well as to organize a walk or run to spread awareness towards mental health and suicide prevention.

Services for Spears have not yet been announced.

988 is a three-digit number that connects callers to the National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. 988 provides support to people who are experiencing emotional distress or suicidal thoughts. The services are free and available 24/7, 365 days a year.
