Family known across New England experiencing heartbreaking tragedy after death of 3-year-old

A tragedy took place in Eastern Connecticut over the weekend which has rallied the community to support the family in their time of need.

3-year-old Cooper Capizzano passed away on Saturday according to multiple GoFundMe fundraisers.

“Cooper was always happy, with a big personality and a wonderfully spicy attitude that made him uniquely, perfectly Cooper. He loved twirling his mom’s hair, a sweet little comfort that she will carry in her heart forever.

“He loved his animals and found so much joy in being around them. He loved Spidey and Paw Patrol, and he absolutely loved school. He was so excited and looking forward to starting preschool, with so many little adventures still ahead of him.

“Cooper loved riding with Mom and spending time working the horses with Dad. These moments, filled with love, family, and the things he enjoyed most, will forever be treasured memories.

“Above all, Cooper loved his family and friends. His laughter, his smile, his spirited personality, and the love he gave so freely touched everyone blessed enough to know him.”

The fundraisers have raised over $40,000 as of this writing.

The Capizzano family is known throughout New England for their riding and work with horses.

Troopers responded to a Pautipaug Hill Road home in Sprague at 8:36 p.m. Saturday for a medical call on private property, which resulted in an untimely death of a juvenile. The case remains under investigation and there is no threat to the public.  Due to the classification as an “untimely death” investigation and the age of the victim, no press release was released, per normal scope of practice.  

Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, police would not confirm to Fall River Reporter that this was the incident involving Capizzano.
