Family and friends are understandably in shock after an estranged married couple were found dead on Saturday.

According to Gregg Miliote of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, Saturday morning Somerset Police found Amber Cowan (Pereira), 30, and Joshua Pereira, 31, both deceased at a Thelma Avenue home with gunshot wounds from an apparent murder-suicide after they were discovered by a family member. A firearm was located underneath Joshua who was separated from Amber and living at another location.

Officials are still investigating.

Friends and family are still trying to come to grips with Saturday’s tragedy as family members of both Amber and Joshua are understandably devastated.

Amber, who was a Fall River native and worked at the Massachusetts Department of Correction as a Correctional Program Officer, is being described by her loved ones as someone who loved her job and was a great friend and family member.

Many counted Amber as a friend. Someone who was sweet and you could count on who had a smile that lit up a room and who loved her two pet dogs.

Amber’s calling hours will take place at the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home at 1521 North Main Street in Fall River on Wednesday morning, July 1st, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
