False Alarm at Durfee High School: Technical Issue Triggers Erroneous Lockdown Alert, No Threat Present

The Fall River Police Department released the following statement:

At approximately 8:00 a.m. this morning, Durfee High School experienced a technical issue with its internal fire alarm and alert system. The system malfunctioned and began announcing that the school was in lockdown.

We want to assure the community that this was a false alarm. There is no active threat or emergency at the school.

The school is currently working to correct the issue, and out of an abundance of caution, we have additional resources on scene to assist.

Again, there is no emergency or threat.
