Fall River’s oldest die-hard Patriots fan passes away
Wins just might be a little more difficult to come by now that Fall River’s oldest die-hard Patriots fan has passed away.
103 years young Lydia Medeiros proved that age was just a number. She passed away early this morning according to her granddaughter Lisa Hargis.
“At 12:25 a.m. we lost our everything. She passed away in my arms. I got in her hospital bed and held her like she always wanted me to, and she flew away. Away with the angels. Now she is dancing in heaven with my Voo and the rest of her family she outlived.”
Lydia was an avid New England Patriots fan, often dressing up to root for her favorite team. Lydia would often pray, hoping that the Pats could pull out a win. She became known for her charisma during games and for praying her rosary during the Super Bowl Champions record-breaking comeback win over the Atlanta Falcons.
Lisa often posted photos and videos of Lydia on social media which led to her popularity among Fall River residents and football fans.
According to Lisa, Lydia’s favorite saying was “Do it while you are young”. She always lived young which just may be what helped keep her going for all these years.
While Lydia will no longer be in her chair praying her rosary for her beloved Patriots, maybe she can help pull some strings from up above.
