NEW YORK — Joson Sanon, the 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Fall River, Massachusetts has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to multiple reports, after completing his sophomore season at St. John’s University.

The 20-year-old appeared in all 37 games for the Red Storm in the 2025–26 season, averaging 7.9 points and 2.4 rebounds per game while often coming off the bench. He shot 33.8% from the field and 33.6% from three-point range.

Sanon began his college career at Arizona State as a five-star prospect. In his freshman season he played in 27 games (nine starts), averaging 11.9 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 42.2% from the field and 36.9% from three. He logged significant minutes (28.3 per game) and showed strong scoring ability as a highly touted recruit.

A product of B.M.C. Durfee High School and later Vermont Academy, Sanon was a consensus top-25 national recruit in the class of 2024. He transferred to St. John’s ahead of the 2025–26 season to play for Hall of Fame coach Rick Pitino and helped the Red Storm reach the NCAA Tournament.

Sanon’s move to the transfer portal comes as St. John’s reshapes its roster following the season. He still has two years of eligibility remaining and is expected to be one of the more intriguing names available in this year’s portal cycle.

No decision on his next destination has been announced.
