Fall River woman who taught in Fall River Public Schools for nearly 3 decades has died
A local woman who gave decades of her life to teaching and showed strength despite being delt a difficult hand, has died.
According to an obituary and a GoFundMe fundraiser, 52-year-old Heather Cordeiro, a lifelong Fall River resident known for her warmth, humor, and dedication to teaching, passed away on Wednesday at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a courageous cancer battle, fighting until the very end with her husband Brian by her side.
Heather spent nearly 30 years as a special education teacher with the Fall River Public Schools, primarily at the James Tansey School. She was deeply committed to her students, especially those on the autism spectrum, and was remembered by colleagues and families for her compassion, patience, and ability to bring joy and positivity into the classroom. Her contagious laughter and upbeat spirit made her a beloved figure among students, fellow teachers, and the broader community.
Outside of school, Heather cherished time with her family and loved creating lasting memories on vacations. She was also a devoted dog mom to her beloved puppy, Clancy, who brought her endless happiness.
Heather’s services will be private.
