Fall River woman who owned, operated salon gives final wish to help animals; friend organizing motorcycles for funeral line in her honor
OBITUARY
Elisabete “Liz” Oliveira, 58, of Fall River, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.
Born in Vila do Porto on Santa Maria Island in the Azores; Liz emigrated to the United States and proudly became an American citizen in 1996. She was the beloved wife of Richard Oliveira and the daughter of Maria (Cabral) Botelho and the late Adroaldo Botelho.
Liz was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School and Rob Roy Academy in Fall River. Prior to her illness, she worked as a hairdresser and was the owner and operator of the Curl Up & Dye hair salon.
Liz enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, cooking, and motorcycle rides with her husband. She was an avid reader and was affectionately known as the “Amazon Queen of Shopping.” Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially her beloved grandson, Silas.
In addition to her husband, Richard, and her mother, Maria, Liz is survived by her daughter, Sabrina Oliveira, and Sabrina’s fiancé, Joey DaSilva, along with their children, Silas DaSilva and Skye DaSilva-Downing. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Cabral, and Patricia’s husband, Paul; their children, Tomaz Cabral and Angelica Cabral, Angelica’s boyfriend, Wally Rogers, and their son, Jace. Liz is further survived by her father-in-law, Liberal Oliveira; her mother-in-law, Matilde Oliveira; her sisters-in-law; her nieces and nephews; her great-nieces and great-nephews; and many other family members and friends whom she loved dearly.
In accordance with Liz’s wishes, flowers are respectfully omitted. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to Forever Paws Animal Shelter by visiting www.foreverpaws.com. Donation envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main Street, Fall River. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church. Interment will take place at Notre Dame Cemetery. In accordance with Liz’s wishes, there will be no reception following the services.
