Fall River woman wants to warn area residents of scam
Scammers never stop wanting to steal money and identities as their schemes evolve and are even sometimes recycled.
A Fall River woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, wanted to alert the public concerning a scam that thieves used on her unsuccessfully.
“I just wanted to make you aware of a scam involving National Grid. I had someone call me today telling me that National Grid never received my last two payments and that someone was on their way to shut my power off. Then the “technician” texted me telling me he would be here in 10 minutes to shut off my power if I didn’t pay $400 (which would be refunded to me after National Grid did an investigation). I would prefer you not use my name, but wanted you and the other people in Fall River to know that this was happening. The number that called me was 774-386-3269 and the “tech” that texted me while I was on the phone with the person, texted from 215-372-6294.”
Whether it is a possible National Grid scam or a scheme involving email or internet, before giving your hard earned money to these scammers, research and contact the company or website directly if you have any questions or concerns.
