Fall River woman killed in fatal Gabriel House fire remembered for musical talents
A Fall River woman who died due to injuries sustained in the fatal Gabriel House fire is being remembered.
According to an obituary, 71-year-old Kim Mackin was a brilliant musician.
“After high school, she received a full ride scholarship to the Manhattan School of Music where she continued to grow playing the viola and studying voice. After graduating, she was offered several tours which took her around the world as first chair viola. She toured in Israel, Spain and other parts of Europe as well as Mexico City. During the latter part of her career as an instrumentalist, she played in the Boston Pops Orchestra and the Les Misérables (Boston) Musical.”
A quote from Kim’s sister in law: “Kimmie has been on my mind for the last few weeks as I continue to “downsize”…”looking at pictures, flash back memories, and how sweetly she sang and effortlessly captured an audience with the sonorous sound of her viola. She was truly gifted and is blessed to have heard her play and sing. She is so missed.”
