Fall River woman issued bond with conditions after alleged DUI with 2-year-old passenger

A Fall River woman was arraigned Thursday following an investigation into a DUI with a Child as a vehicle passenger.

According to police, on Friday, just after 7:15 p.m., Portsmouth Police arrested 24-year-old Dara Dupre of Fall River, MA, for Driving Under the Influence of Liquor or Drugs with a child under the age of 13 as a passenger.

A Portsmouth Police officer observed a white Volkswagen Tiguan traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on East Main Road near Walgreens. The vehicle was stopped, and the operator, identified as Dupre, exhibited multiple signs of alcohol impairment, including a strong odor of alcohol on her breath. A 2-year-old child was found in a safety seat in the rear of the vehicle.

Dupre underwent standardized field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of DUI. After being transported to Portsmouth Police Headquarters, Dupre submitted to a chemical breath test which she failed.

Dupre was issued a Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal citation for speeding and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Liquor or Drugs – 1st Offense, and DUI of Liquor/Drugs – Child Under 13 as Passenger – 1st Offense.

Dupre was arraignment at the 2nd Division District Court where she pled not guilty.

She was released on $1,000 personal recognizance, had her license suspended and was ordered not to drive.

Dupre’s next scheduled court appearance is February 20th for a pretrial conference.
