Fall River veteran killed in Gabriel House fire enjoyed time with family, company of late dog

Robert G. King, 78, of Fall River, husband of the late Lucille (D’Arruda) King, tragically passed away at home on Sunday, July 13, 2025 after being overcome with smoke inhalation as fire spread through his Gabriel House home.
Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Amos King and the late Florence (Emard) King.
Prior to his retirement he worked for Rand McNally as a machine operator for many years. A proud Veteran of the Navy and National guards, he bravely served his Country during the Gulf War. Robert very much enjoyed visits from his great-nephew and daily visits and weekly lunches with his sisters. In his younger years, he loved fishing and camping. Most notably, Robert found great joy and pleasure in the company of his late dog, “Precious” who was his constant companion.
He leaves his loving and devoted sisters, Beverly Eddy and her husband, Bruce, and Debbie Eddy and her husband, James, both of Fall River, as well as siblings, Rita Collard (late husband, Emile) of Attleboro, Jane Eddy and her husband, Gordon, and Maurice King and his wife, Jane, both of Fall River. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Edward King.
His funeral arrangements, under the care of the Silva-Faria Funeral Home, were private.
