Fall River to have new medical rescue ambulance placed in service
The City of Fall River will soon have a new medical rescue ambulance in operation.
According to Timothy Oliveira, Director of Fall River EMS, the department purchased a new medical rescue for the city.
The ambulance is a 2021 Dodge 5500 4 X 4 Horton medical rescue which was received from Greenwood Emergency Vehicles on Monday.
Oliveira said that the department received the funds for the medical rescue through the Cares Act. The apparatus was purchased at a cost of $285,600.
The rescue replaces a 2015 F550 Horton rescue that was being used as a reserve when needed.
The new medical rescue will be assigned to the Candeias / Niagara station on Plymouth Avenue and will be designated as Medical Rescue – 6.
The new ambulance will be placed in service today at 4:00 p.m., according to Oliveira.
