Fall River teen sentenced in Superior Court for shooting woman in the back
Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III has announced that a 19-year-old teen from Fall River plead guilty this week in the Fall River Superior Court.
Treshon Pugh was sentenced to serve 18 months in the House of Correction followed by 2 years of supervised probation for Assault and Battery by Discharge of a Firearm, Assault and Battery Causing Serious Bodily Injury, Unlawful Carrying of a Firearm, Unlicensed Possession of a Loaded Firearm and Wanton Destruction of Property.
On June 16th, 2024, Fall River Police responded to St. Anne’s Hospital where an 18-year-old female was being treated for a gunshot wound to the back. The victim was later transported to Rhode Island Hospital for further treatment.
The victim indicated that she was in a vehicle being driven by her sister with Pugh seated directly behind her. The victim heard a loud shot, smelled smoke, and yelled she had been hit. She then saw Pugh throw a firearm out of the vehicle window. Both the victim and her sister indicated they believed the shooting was accidental as there was no argument or altercation going on just prior to the shooting.
Pugh did not possess a License to Carry. Although the firearm was not located, the bullet, after several weeks, dislodged from the victim’s back and was removed by doctors. The victim described the bullet as .38 caliber which a Massachusetts State Trooper from the firearms identification unit identified as the type of bullet that would be shot from a revolver style handgun. The victim, although able to walk, will suffer from long-term back issues due to the shooting injury.
“This case once again highlights the danger associated with the possession of illegal firearms. Despite the shooting being accidental, nothing good comes from individuals roaming the city with illegal guns,” District Attorney Quinn said.
