A Fall River student has some big dreams, and she is already on her way to attaining them.

According to Diman Regional, Ana Engel Martinez, a sophomore in Diman’s HVAC program is making waves in and out of the classroom.

When she’s not mastering HVAC systems at Diman, Ana is competing on the water. After earning 2nd place at the 2025 Junior Olympic Windsurfing Festival–Techno in Martha’s Vineyard representing New Bedford Community Boating Center, she’s now preparing to represent Massachusetts in a New England competition this summer.

The school states that “whether she’s troubleshooting a cooling system in the shop or reading wind, water, and weather on the board, Ana brings the same focus, grit, and problem-solving mindset to everything she does.”

Martinez’s dream is to compete in a future Summer Olympics and one day build and repair HVAC systems on maritime vessels, blending her technical training with her love of the sea.

“When I first started, learning it was hard,” Ana says. “But with lots of practice, it became second nature.”

Good luck Ana!
