Fall River standout multi-sport athlete has begun the fight of his young life with community support
A true competitor, a Fall River standout athlete has begun the fight of his young life.
Whether he is playing wide receiver for Diman football, passing out dimes and knocking down threes for Diman basketball, or winning state titles as an integral part of Maplewood Post 464, freshman Wesley Araujo has excelled.
He will now use his toughness to defeat recently diagnosed Leukemia.
Those who know Araujo say he is in good spirits while staying at Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
The community has begun to rally around Wes and his family creating the hashtag #WesStrong, creating a GoFundMe fundraiser, and ordering #WesStrong bracelets that will arrive in the first week of February for $5 each. The hope is to raise funds to help with medical bills and other expenses as his parents are by his side. The fundraiser has already raised over $10,000.
By all accounts, Araujo isn’t just a talented athlete, but also a good kid, and a hard worker.
We wish Wes and his family the best in their fight.
