Fall River shelter getting constant calls from owners looking to surrender their dogs

There are too many dogs that need a home in the Fall River area or their current owner’s either can’t or doesn’t want to take care of them anymore. But you can help.

Forever Paws Animal Shelter on Lynwood Street is still reeling from taking in 21 dogs that were seized in a New Bedford animal cruelty case less than a month ago.

They are also dealing with another issue.

The shelter says they are getting DAILY calls from owners looking to surrender their dogs. Unfortunately, they can’t take any of those dogs in until their current dogs are adopted out because they have a lot of them which includes:

Melody, 4yo female Cane Corso, 70lbs. No cats, other dogs okay, kids 12+. Must own your own home or live in a home owned by a family member. Fenced in yard preferred. Breed experienced/similar breed experience preferred.

Pax, 5yo male English bulldog mix, 56lbs. Cats okay, other dogs okay, kids 10+. Must own your own home or live in a home owned by a family member.

Andromeda, 7mo female lab mix, 42lbs. No cats, other dogs okay, kids 8+.

Brielle, 5yo female Cane Corso, 96lbs. No cats, other dogs okay, kids 12+. Must own your own home or live in a home owned by a family member. Fenced in yard preferred. Breed experienced/similar breed experience preferred.

Charlotte, 3yo female Cane Corso, 94lbs. No cats, other dogs okay, kids 12+. Must own your own home or live in a home owned by a family member. Fenced in yard preferred. Breed experienced/similar breed experience preferred.

Delilah, 6yo female Cane Corso, 92lbs. No cats, other dogs okay, kids 12+. Must own your own home or live in a home owned by a family member. Fenced in yard preferred. Breed experienced/similar breed experience preferred.

Flapjack, 11yo male collie mix, 55lbs. Cats okay, other dogs okay, kids 8+.

Grizz, 2y6mo male husky/collie mix, 70lbs. Cats okay, other dogs okay, kids 10+.

Idris, 3yo male Cane Corso, 85lbs. No cats, other dogs okay, kids 12+. Must own your own home or live in a home owned by a family member. Fenced in yard preferred. Breed experienced/similar breed experience preferred.

Rico Suave, 4yo male hound mix, 80lbs. Not sure about cats yet, other dogs okay, kids 12+.

Selena, 5yo female Cane Corso, 91lbs. No cats, other dogs okay, kids 12+. Must own your own home or live in a home owned by a family member. Fenced in yard preferred. Breed experienced/similar breed experience preferred.

Titus, 15wk old male pit bull, 25lbs. Cats okay, other dogs okay, kids 5+. Must own your own home or live in a home owned by a family member.

Diesel, 1y6mo male pit bull, 70lbs. No cats, other dogs okay, kids 12+. Must own your own home or live in a home owned by a family member.

Dobby, 7mo male minpin mix, 15lbs. Would probably do best as the only animal in the home, kids 12+.

Hubble, 8yo male Australian Cattle Dog, 60lbs. No cats, selective with other dogs, kids 12+.

Kewpie, 4yo female akita, 66lbs. Must be the only animal in the home, kids 12+. Must own your own home or live in a home owned by a family member.

Nebula, 6yo female lab mix, 50lbs. Must be the only animal in the home, kids 12+.
