Fall River school system remembers Army Sgt. 1st Class Eric Emond
Superintendent Matthew Malone issued a message of condolence today in reference to the tragic and heroic death of Army Sgt. 1st Class Eric Emond.
“A son of Fall River, Sgt. Emond was a student in Fall River Public Schools, attending Osborn Elementary School, Healy Elementary School, Henry Lord Middle School, and Durfee High School.” Malone went on to say that Emond had academic success and was on the Durfee Wrestling Team.
“Sgt. Emond was a founding member of the Massachusetts Fallen Heroes, a Veterans’ service organization, whose mission is to support Gold Star families and the veterans’ community of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Sgt. Emond had a lengthy and honorable military service record.” Malone highlighted Sgt. Emond’s heroic acts under fire as a Marine and in the Army Special Forces in which he was highly decorated for. Sgt. Emond was deployed 7 times in 21 years of service.
Sgt. Emond leaves behind a wife and three children.
