Fall River restaurant that closed last month is re-opening this week under new ownership
What started out as a food cart, turned into a successful Fall River brick and mortar just over a year ago. It came to an ending last month, but is already making a return.
Bun Buds at 10 Purchase Street was a casual Asian-American fusion restaurant specializing in elevated dumplings and hot dogs. The spot featured takeout or delivery and offers a menu featuring creative items like dollar dumplings, fusion hot dogs, and other snacks in a vibrant, quick-service setting.
Owner Jake Weiss made the decision to close Bun Buds on Saturday, Oct 4th.
“I started this business with a partner and my college professor, with the intention of Bun Buds being a killer summer project to dip our toes into entrepreneurship. I never could have imagined how far it took me. The truth is, this stuff isn’t easy. I’ve missed a lot of parts of my life due to the commitment this takes. Relationships have ended, family time has been missed, and friendships have been ruined. At the end of the day, my job is to keep my chin up and flip the sign to open. I am so incredibly proud of what my team and I have created together, now I am ready to step away and move on to my next stage in life.”
He was looking for a new owner, and quickly found one.
New owner and restauranteur (Oath Pizza, Chipotle) Iverson Jean Philippe plans on keeping the same menu and favorites with gradually adding more options over time, according to a social media post.
Employees from the previous ownership are also returning and Weiss will be helping in the transition for the first few months.
A soft opening will be held this Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will also be open from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays with hours expected to increase.
