A Fall River establishment that had its licenses suspended after violent incidents faced a hearing last week.

According to police, on December 18th, the Fall River Licensing Board convened an emergency meeting to address the licensing status of Iced Out Pub, located on East Main Street. This meeting was prompted by a shooting that occurred on the premises during the early morning hours on December 18th.

Prior to this incident, a show-cause hearing had already been scheduled before the Board to review prior incidents that could potentially impact Iced Out Pub’s eligibility to hold a liquor license. Police stated that in light of the seriousness of the recent incident, the Board voted unanimously to suspend the establishment’s liquor license pending the scheduled show-cause hearing on December 23rd.

Chairman Gregory Brilhante stated, “This board is in full support of the safety of the Fall River Police Department and the public”.

“This type of criminal activity will not be tolerated in establishments licensed by the city. We will take swift action to prevent these incidents from occurring and the safety of our neighborhoods from being placed in jeopardy” stated Mayor Paul Coogan.

At the show-cause hearing held on December 23rd, it was stated that 23 noise complaints had been called in since May’s Licensing Board meeting where the pub came in front of the Board due to noise complaints. Fall River Police also noted a large fight that took place with blood on the ground on November 27th outside of the pub. According to bodycam footage shown at the hearing, some employees of the pub, not the owner, became confrontational with officers and also refused to identify themselves. A video found on social media also showed staff members allegedly involved in the fight.

Iced Out Pub ownership tearfully stated that her brother, Jason Derosa, was trying to be protective of her and is no longer associated with the pub. Another employee was also let go and security has been trained to help address the issues.

One of the parties shot was an employee and son of the owner trying to help people stay safe.

Chairman Brilhante expressed concerns that someone may get killed despite possible good intentions by ownership.

The Board unanimously revoked Iced Out Pub’s licenses indefinitely. They have the right to appeal.

Fall River Police continue to investigate the shooting.
