FALL RIVER — Superintendent Tracy Curley has announced that Ryan Collins has been appointed the new Principal of Edmond P. Talbot Middle School.

Collins, who most recently served as Principal of Bartlett High School in Webster, took over the new role effective Monday, Aug. 26.

“Ryan has extensive experience as a school administrator and is a strong leader of students and staff,” Superintendent Curley said. “He is extremely passionate about education and we are thrilled to welcome him to the Fall River Public Schools.”

Collins was born, raised, and educated in West Virginia, where he began his teaching career before working for 20 years in North Carolina. He became a school leader in 2009 when he took his first role outside the classroom as an Instructional Facilitator and Coach.

Collins later became an Assistant Principal, where his work and training focused on school improvement in Title I schools. In North Carolina, a school is considered Title I if at least 40% of the elementary student population or 75% of its middle and high school students are economically disadvantaged.

In July 2022, Collins began serving as Principal of Bartlett High School in Webster, Massachusetts, where he remained until being hired for his new role in Fall River.

“I am honored to join the Fall River school community as the new Principal of the Edmond P. Talbot Middle School,” Collins said. “I am passionate about the field of education and I value partnership and collaboration for the greater good of the students and families I serve.”

Collins is taking over for Brian Raposo, who served as the principal from 2018-2024, before being appointed as Assistant Superintendent/Chief Academic Officer of the Fall River Public Schools.
