Fall River, Providence, Cranston drug investigation leads to two arrests, over three kilos of drugs, nearly $100,000 in cash seized
A couple is facing drug charges after a recent arrest that allegedly involved multiple local communities.
According to WJAR 10, 38-year-old David Mello, and his girlfriend, 37-year-old Juricco Castillo, face allegations of dealing cocaine within the city, per a Providence Police report.
Records indicate Mello received a 40-year prison term after admitting guilt to second-degree murder back in 2008 and has since been released.
Following an investigation spanning several months, officers detained Mello and Castillo last Wednesday. They reportedly discovered a pouch containing cocaine on Mello and roughly $6,000 hidden inside a birthday-themed gift bag in their vehicle.
The report also mentioned an infant being present in the car during the stop.
Further searches uncovered additional cocaine and over $25,000 at a residence in the city, approximately $40,000 plus more drugs at a Cranston storage facility, and three kilograms of cocaine alongside about $20,000 at the home of Mello’s father in Fall River.
According to the report obtained by WJAR 10, both individuals confessed to investigators during interviews that they had been involved in drug distribution.
The pair are facing multiple narcotics-related offenses and are currently held without bail.
