Fall River Police warning public of increase of break-ins

Published

on

The Fall River Police Department is warning the public concerning a rash of break-ins in the city.

The Fall River Police has seen an increase in break-ins specifically to Utility Body Vehicles and Equipment trailers. The suspects are either prying locks or cutting locks to gain access to the equipment. The Fall River Police is alerting the community to be on the lookout.

Also as a reminder it is a best practice to keep an inventory of tools or equipment that is stored in a trailer or shed. Having a record of serial numbers and distinguishing marks on the equipment aid in the recovery of stolen items. Simply taking pictures of the items with a smart phone and having the serial numbers greatly increases the chances of the stolen items to be located.

The string of break-ins have occurred in the south end of the city near the areas of Mount Hope Avenue, Crawford Street and also in the Flint Neighborhood. The FRPD believe the same suspect is involved in these crimes and they are mobile so there may be a vehicle involved with the crimes. It appears they are targeting construction equipment and landscaping equipment.

If you are a victim of a recent break-in and have not reported it please the FRPD are asking you to do so as soon as possible. Anyone with information may contact the Major Crimes Division at 508-324-2796 or the anonymous tip line at 508-672-TIPS(8477).
