Fall River Police units combine to arrest Fall River juvenile on firearm charges
A Fall River teen is facing multiple gun charges.
According to Deputy Chief Barden Castro, on Wednesday, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Fall River Police Detectives apprehended a 17-year-old male with an outstanding arrest warrant in the area of the Father Vincent Diaferio Housing Development.
The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by Vice and Intelligence Gang Unit Detectives.
A subsequent search of the teen uncovered a loaded 9mm polymer pistol. The 17-year-old was arrested and charged by Det. Lauren Fiola with carrying a large capacity firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in public without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, and possession of ammunition.
This arrest is the result of ongoing collaborative efforts between Vice and Intelligence Gang Unit Detectives, Major Crimes Detectives, and the Special Operations Division.
Castro stated that under the direction of Detective Sergeant William Falandys, the department’s divisions and units have collaborated to proactively address gun crime in the City. These detectives are directly responsible for the seizure of 13 illegally possessed firearms since the beginning of this year.
