Fall River police source describes video of savage attack on former Fall River mayor Will Flanagan

Fall River Reporter has received more details concerning the stabbing of former Fall River mayor Will Flanagan.

A source within the Fall River Police Department released an account of what surveillance video reveals.

“All I know is there is video of the suspect running up behind Will and stabbing him in the neck. Will went down and the guy ran right past him. Nothing taken or anything. Seems unprovoked.”

“I counted 5 blows. Savage attack. Never saw what hit him. Tough to say the locations of the wounds but they all seemed high. Neck maybe face as well.”

According to police, at approximately 8:30 Tuesday morning, the person of interest involved in the stabbing of Flanagan was apprehended and placed under arrest.

At this time, detectives are processing the arrest. Once the individual has been arraigned on charges, they will release his identity and photograph.

At approximately 5:00 p.m., multiple calls were received reporting that a male had been stabbed near the 100 block of Hartwell Street, near the Cosmopolitan Dispensary.

Fall River Police and Fall River EMS immediately responded and discovered that the victim was former City of Fall River Mayor Will Flanagan.

Police stated that Flanagan sustained significant injuries and was transported to an area hospital, where he is currently listed in serious but stable condition.
