Fall River Police responded to a city school after a call that came into dispatch.

At approximately 1:00 p.m., Durfee High School received a threat, and, out of an abundance of caution, the school was placed in a shelter-in-place status while officers conduct a thorough search in coordination with school administrators.

According to police, officers thoroughly searched and cleared the school. The caller alleged the presence of a bomb and a firearm on campus, provided false student names, and demonstrated no accurate knowledge of the school. The incident appears to be a hoax consistent with similar calls made to other schools.

Authorities will continue to investigate the origin of the call in coordination with outside agencies. At this time, there is no credible threat to the school or its community.
