Fall River Police release name of victim in fatal pedestrian collision; remembered as sweet person

Police have released the name of the person who died after an incident that took place just before 8:00 p.m. Tuesday in Fall River.

According to Lieutenant Matthew Mendes, members of the Patrol Bureau responded to a motor vehicle vs. pedestrian incident at the intersection of Plymouth Avenue and Nashua Street.

The Major Case Bureau, Crime Scene Unit, and Accident Reconstruction Team were promptly dispatched to the scene to assist in the investigation.

The pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital with what appeared to be life-threatening injuries. Despite the efforts of medical staff, the victim tragically succumbed to her injuries. 

According to scanner transmissions, the driver was evaluated and stayed at the scene.

Sergeant Ross Aubin stated Friday that the department is deeply saddened to report that the victim of the fatal car crash has been identified as Leliane Amado of Fall River.  

“Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time.”

Friends say that Amado was a good person, sweet, a good mother and a good friend.

Additional details on the collision were not released.
