Fall River Police on scene after afternoon shooting with barricaded suspect
Authorities are on scene after a shooting in Fall River on Friday afternoon.
According to police, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the department received a report of a disturbance in the 300 block of Lindsey Street. The initial caller stated that a male individual was in possession of a firearm and attempting to break a vehicle window before disconnecting the call. Approximately one minute later, a second caller reported that a male was actively punching and kicking a vehicle and subsequently threw a large rock at it.
Shortly thereafter, multiple calls were received reporting gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, officers located spent shell casings on the ground.
A perimeter has been established, and the ESU and Patrol Officers are actively working to secure and clear the area. Police ask that the public avoid the vicinity of the 300 block of Lindsey Street and allow officers the space necessary to operate safely and effectively.
This remains an active and developing situation, and information is limited. Additional updates will be provided as they become available.
In an update, the area surrounding Lindsey Street has since been reopened. Officers have cleared the scene, and detectives will continue to investigate the incident.
