Fall River Police issue update after Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School placed on lockdown

Police responded to an incident that took place around 10:00 a.m. at a high school in Fall River.

According to Fall River Police, the Fall River Police Department responded to a reported threat at Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School. A caller to the police department stated they were in crisis and was in possession of a bomb and also had an AK47. The individual stated he was inside of one of the bathrooms in the school. The school was placed on an immediate lockdown and resources immediately organized and entered the school trying to locate any threats.

Police say that after a thorough investigation, the situation has been resolved and there is no threat to the school or community, but the investigation continues. The lockdown has been lifted, and the campus is secure.

According to Fall River Reporter’s Jo Goode, Deputy Fall River Police Chief JT Hoar stated that it appears to have been a swatting (prank) call.

Early dismissal was announced for 12:30 p.m. with all after school activities canceled.
