A Fall River school was placed on lockdown on Wednesday morning.

According to police, Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School received an anonymous tip regarding a potential safety concern. The report indicated that during lunch on Tuesday, a student allegedly mentioned having a firearm. No weapon was displayed.

In response, the school was immediately placed on lockdown, and School Resource Officers were promptly deployed. The identified student was located, brought to an administrative office, and searched by both law enforcement and school officials. No weapon was found. Additionally, officers conducted a search of the student’s residence as a precautionary measure. The individual who provided the tip was also identified and interviewed by police.

The lockdown has since been lifted, and school was dismissed on time, as scheduled for the half-day. However, all afterschool activities for today have been canceled.
