Fall River Police investigating Tuesday afternoon shooting

Fall River Police are investigating a shots fired incident that occurred Tuesday afternoon.

According to scanner transmissions, at approximately 2:10 p.m. a report came in from a Fall River Police officer for possible shots fired in the area of Second Street and Plymouth Avenue.

Upon arrival, an officer was reportedly told by a witness that they heard shots or fireworks approximately 10 minutes earlier in the area of Whipple Street.

Shortly after, Berkley Street was shut down as evidence was discovered that confirmed a shooting took place.

According to Lieutenant Jay Huard, the shooting occurred in the area of 59 Berkley Street.

“It appears to be a targeted act of violence.”

The incident remains under investigation by Fall River Major Crimes Detectives.
