Fall River Police investigating incident near Ruggles Park after juvenile reported assault, armed robbery, was saved by bystander
A male is rightly being deemed a hero after a scary incident near a Fall River Park over the weekend.
According to Sergeant Ross Aubin, at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, Officers responded to Pine Street in the area of Ruggles Park for a reported armed robbery.
During the altercation, a person described as a medium/heavy set black male in late 20’s to mid 30’s with a short black beard approached a juvenile female while she was seated in a vehicle. The male asked for directions before brandishing a pistol that was later determined to be a BB gun. The male demanded the female’s belongings. When she attempted to flee, the male struck her several times with the BB gun and forced her into the rear seat of the vehicle.
Thankfully, a brave male witnessed this incident and began blaring the horn on his own vehicle in order to startle the armed assailant. The attacker fled on foot and the concerned citizen gave chase but lost sight of him when he began running though backyards.
Aubin stated that officers collected the BB pistol as well as a knife and the victim’s phone. They canvased the area for potential camera footage to assist with identifying the male.
Thankfully, a citizen of Fall River stepped up and prevented this terrifying incident from getting much worse.
