Fall River Police investigating after New Bedford man reportedly shot at, vehicle damaged
Police are investigating after a man was reportedly shot at on Friday.
According to Det. Sergeant Moses Pereira, early this morning, a 45-year-old man from New Bedford was stopped by a Massachusetts State Police Trooper in the Corky Row section of the city due to erratic operation.
The operator indicated to police that he engaged in a brief verbal argument with an unknown male. Due to his lack of familiarity with the city, he had difficulty providing an exact location. At some point following the argument, he reported hearing a bang similar to a gunshot. He then fled the area to avoid injury.
The victim was uninjured; however, his vehicle did sustain damage consistent with a bullet hole. The trooper who initially stopped the vehicle also reported hearing the sound of gunfire.
The case is under investigation by the Major Crimes Division.
