Fall River Police investigating after hit-and-run crash involving electric bicycle near Stop & Shop
A bicyclist was injured after a reported hit-and-run crash Sunday in Fall River.
According to Det. Sergeant Moses Pereira, at approximately 12:15 p.m., units responded to the area of Rodman Street and Lonsdale Street in response to a collision between an electric bicycle and a motor vehicle. Call notes indicated that the vehicle fled the scene after the collision occurred.
Upon arrival, the operator of the bicycle explained that he was traveling West on Rodman Street in the bicycle lane. As he approached the intersection of Rodman Street and Lonsdale Street, he used a hand signal to indicate his intention to turn left onto Lonsdale Street. As he made the turn, he was struck by an unknown motor vehicle red/maroon in color, which immediately fled the area.
The bicyclist was transported to a local trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
