Fall River Police investigating after confirmed shooting and car crash into business
Fall River Police are investigating after a shooting and a car crash into a city business occurred at about the same time in the same area on Sunday.
According to Sergeant Moses Pereira, just after 10:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to Chaves Market regarding reports of shots fired in the area. While in-route, responding units were advised that a vehicle had crashed into the business, and its occupants had fled the area.
Upon arrival, officers located the unoccupied vehicle and were unable to locate any of its occupants. It was later confirmed by investigators that a shooting occurred in this area as well. As a result, the Crime Scene Unit responded to assist with the investigation.
Pereira stated that at this time, it does not appear as though anyone was injured in the shooting, or subsequent collision. The vehicle involved in the collision was towed from the scene for further investigation.
The matter is being investigated by the Major Crimes Division. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Major Crimes Division at 508-324-2796. Anonymous Tips can be provided by dialing 508-672-TIPS (8477).
