Fall River Police, good Samaritan, combine to arrest man accused of breaking into and stealing from city business

A combined effort resulted in the arrest of a local man after a city business was reportedly broken into.

According to Acting Fall River Police Chief J.T. Hoar, on Monday at 8:45 p.m., officers responded to Saber Auto Body at 231 Bedford Street.

22-year-old Messiah Joseph Soares was being subdued by a citizen as he was caught in the act of breaking into the business.

Officers took him into custody and were able to view video surveillance further connecting Soares to the break in.

He was charged with Breaking & Entering Into a Building at Nighttime for a Felony, Breaking & Entering Into a Vehicle/Boat at Nighttime for a Felony (2 counts), Larceny From a Building, and Breaking Into a Depository.

Court records show that at Monday’s arraignment, Soares pled not guilty and was released on personal recognizance with a pretrial hearing scheduled for August 5th.
